The Helle 90 BraKar is one of the larger knives from the Hell range. The knife is enhanced with jimping on the spine of the blade for additional control with your thumb. The handle is comprisefd of piece of walnut wood and curly birch. The blade is enhanced with a stainless steel core, laminated between two layers of 18/8 stainless steel. This core has a razor-sharp edge and is easy to sharpen. 

The knife comes with a traditional Scandinavian leather sheath.

**Maintenance**

Both the handle and the blade need to be dried with a soft towel if they get wet. We also recommended occasionally adding wax or oil.

The sheath should occasionally be impregnated with a colourless agent (grease or wax) to make sure it stays flexible. Dry the sheath carefully at room temperature if it gets wet.

All Helle knives are made and finished by hand. As such each knife is a unique masterpiece because every pattern is different.

Das Messer ist perfekt verarbeitet.
Der Griff ist sehr ergonomisch und genug lang auch für sehr grosse Hände. In Anbetracht der Grifflänge ist der Griff relativ schmal gehalten. Ich mag das obwohl ich ziemlich lange Finger habe. Wer lieber dickere Griffe mag, dem würde ich eher die Modelle Temagami oder Jägermeister 42 von Helle empfehlen.
Klinge ist perfekt geschliffen und rasiermesserscharf. Durch das der Klingelstahl mit Edelstahl (ähnlich dem von Essbesteck) laminiert wurde ist der Grossteil der Schneide enorm rostträge, da korrodiert nichts nicht einmal bei Zitrusfrüchten oder Salzwasser. Nur die unteren paar Millimeter des Messerschliffes ist blanker Klingelstahl. Dieser gehört zwar zu den rostfreien Messerstählen, doch der kann bei unsachgemässem Umgang rosten. Der Edelstahl macht die Klinge auch zäher und bruchfester, dafür ist er nicht sehr hart und verkratzt leicht. Also Vorsicht beim polieren und reinigen falls das Messer als Ausstellungsstück gedacht ist. Wenn man das Messer wie ich als Gebrauchsgegenstand nutzt, stören ein paar Kratzer wohl kaum.
Die Scheide ist funktional, sehr leicht, stabil und gut verarbeitet und perfekt angepasst. Ich habe sie gleich mal mit Ballistol eingesprüht, innen und aussen und habe sie dann über Nacht trocknen und auslüften lassen. So ist das Leder besser gegen Nässe geschützt und die ganzen Hotspots, wo sich die Scheide besonders schnell abnutzt werden etwas weicher und elastischer. Es gibt auch bessere Lederpflegemittel und der Ballistolgeruch ist auch nicht jedermanns Sache. Ich mag Ballistol, weil ich den Spray auch gleich für die Holzpflege des Griffes und für die Klingenpflege verwenden kann. Wer den Geruch nicht mag kann auch das H1 von Ballistol nehmen, gibt es als Spray und in so einem kleinen Plastikfläschchen. Das H1 ist geruchsfrei und lebensmittelkonform, perfekt für Küche und Outdoor.
