This Le Creuset sauté pan from the Fonte enamel collection is made from solid cast iron. It is a robust, top-quality pan that will last for generations. There are so many things you can do with this cast iron pan. You can cook, fry, grill and stew on all kinds of cooking hobs. The wooden handle is comfortable because it stays cool during use. However, the wooden handle means that the pan cannot be used in the oven. The pan is great for keeping dishes cool in the fridge or freezer, though. You could also use it as a serving dish for chilled food on a hot summer's day.
Le Fonte enamel pans
Le Creuset Fonte enamel pans are cast in cast iron. A sand mould is made for each individual pan. This mould is filled with cast iron. The cast iron is then finished with a beautiful enamel non-stick coating, The result is a brilliant, heavy pan. A real style icon, which will last for generations. Because an individual mould is made each time, every pan is unique, so there may be subtle differences between them. This is one of the charming characteristics of these world-famous pans.
Tips for using your pan
Remove labels and stickers from the pan before first use. Clean the pan briefly under hot soapy water. Rinse the pan off thoroughly and dry it well. Use a piece of kitchen towel to rub the inside of the pan with some vegetable oil. Sunflower oil or peanut oil are great options. Then rinse the pan under hot water and dry it again. The pan is now ready for use. By repeating this process regularly, you protect the non-stick coating and extend the lifespan of your pan.
Always choose a suitable heat source and temperature for your pan. When using a gas hob, make sure that the flames never reach up the sides of the pan. Preferably use utensils made from wood, plastic or silicone. If used carefully, you can use metal cookware like forks and spoons, but take care not to scratch the surface. Never cut any food in the pan. Light scratches may become visible with normal use but these do not affect the pan's functioning. Also make sure not to tap metal utensils on the edge of the pan.
Always clean the pan well after use. Any leftover food or greasiness can become ingrained over time, which may affect the non-stick coating. Always allow the pan to cool down before cleaning it, and never place a hot pan under a cold tap. The pans simply cannot cope with this sudden difference in temperature. Due to the wooden handle, we do not recommend cleaning in the dishwasher.
