The blade

The blade is made of 14C28N stainless steel, which is often used for top-quality knives. The secret is the addition of nitrogen. This, combined with a hardness of 58-59 HRC, makes this a perfect steel for knifemakers with high expectations for sharpness, stability and corrosion resistance.

Locking mechanism

This knife has a back lock on the blade. This lock ensures safety while you use the knife. And thanks to this lock, the blade doesn't need a heavy spring. The knife opens and closes nice and lightly.

Stop pin

When the blade closes, it is caught by a hardened pin. This prevents the sharp blade from hitting the inside of the knife too hard. The pin won't wear out, even with long-term use.

Scales

The scales of this pocket knife are made from Snakewood or Amourette. Snakewood is a tropical type of wood with a stunning grain. It's a relatively expensive wood with a stunning pattern that looks a lot like the scales of a snake. Please be aware that materials like wood have natural variations. Therefore the knife you receive might be subtly different from the product photos. The model and type of material, however, will always be the same. This means all the knives are unique, which is of course what makes them so special. The knife comes with a leather sheath. Another traditional product that has been made by hand in France.

Maintenance

You need to add some oil to the mechanism every once in a while. You should also regularly sharpen the blade to keep it razor-sharp. This is something you should do with every knife, though! Sharpen the knife before it gets blunt. Otherwise you're already too late. A knife should never be placed in a dishwasher. Rinse the blade off after use and dry it properly, especially after cutting products that contain acids and salts. If you aren't using the knife on a daily basis, or want to store it for a longer period of time, you need to oil the blade.

Warranty

The high level of attention that Le Thiers pays to the design and manufacture of its knives enables it to offer a lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects. This warranty is limited to normal use, i.e. cutting. The knife comes with a numbered warranty certificate, so keep it safe.
