The Spyderco Native 5 Salt C41PYL has been a best-seller ever since 1997. Characteristic about the Native 5 is the solid lock. The spring on the backlock can easily be opened on the one hand, on the other it will securely lock the blade when opened. This also provides a little resistance when opening the knife. The blade has been enhanced with a full flat grind. This means that the blade has a flat grind from the spine to the edge.

Expectations
Not my first Spyderco lockback; I have a few - they're solid work knives. Usual grippy texturing, fit and finish up to standard. Spyderco gets their heat treatment right - the steel is, well, impressive and it strops easily back to a wicked edge with a 6 micron DMT diamond paste; not expecting a need to sharpen fully for a while. Expecting this to serve me well for many years to come.
