The Helle Sigmund is a classic, all-round outdoor knife. It is the embodiment of 80 years of tradition. The original design of the blade was namely introduced in the thirties by Sigmund Helle. In 2012 the design was brought to the twenty-first century by Torodd Helle which added a modern handle.
The handle is comprised of pieces of birch wood and dark oak wood, with pieces of leather in between. Combined with the story of a family tradition which has lasted for dozens or years the handle makes the knife really special. The blade is made from a core of hard stainless steel, laminated in between two layers of 18/8 stainless steel. This core has a razor-sharp edge and is easy to sharpen.
The knife comes with a traditional Scandinavian leather sheath. It is enhanced with rich embellishments making it extra special.
Maintaining Helle knives
Both the handle and the blade need to be dried with a soft towel if they get wet. We also recommended occasionally adding wax or oil.
The sheath should occasionally be impregnated with a colourless agent (grease or wax) to make sure it stays flexible. Dry the sheath carefully at room temperature if it gets wet.
All Helle knives are made and finished by hand. As such each knife is a unique masterpiece because every pattern is different.
