You will immediately notice that the stone quickly removes any material. As such you will gets results quickly without wearing out the stone. Don’t submerge the stone. It simply won’t do it any good. The same applies to exposing it to high temperatures, boiling or soapy water.

When you use the knife frequently it will, over the course of time, hollow out a bit. Fortunately you can easily fix this problem using a lapping plate.
