The Tormek T-1 Kitchen Knife Sharpeners are sturdy electric sharpeners for maintaining and sharpening kitchen knives. With a fine diamond wheel, a continuously adjustable angle guide and a separate deburring wheel, the T-1 offers a great deal of control over the sharpening process. An interesting choice for home cooks who like to keep their kitchen knives properly sharp themselves.

Features of the Tormek T-1 series

The Tormek T-1 is designed for use in the kitchen and combines a precisely cast, powder-coated zinc housing with a compact size. The underside is made of sturdy plastic and the handle of solid oak wood, treated with hardwax oil. The different T1s in the series differ only in colour.

The patented angle guide can be adjusted continuously from 8 to 22 degrees per side and is suitable for knives up to 5 mm thick. This allows you to adjust the sharpening angle for different types of kitchen knives, from thin Japanese knives to sturdier European models.

The DF-150 diamond wheel has a grit size of 600 grit and rotates slowly. As a result, heat build-up remains limited and relatively little steel is removed during sharpening. After sharpening, use the composite honing wheel to remove the burr from the edge and further refine the edge. This wheel can also be used to touch up a knife in between without sharpening again with the diamond wheel.

Designed for pleasant home use

Felt protective pads in the guide help prevent scratches on the blade and catch sharpening dust. A built-in magnet collects steel particles released during sharpening. With a noise level of approximately 45 dB, the T-1 also operates quietly.

How do you sharpen with a Tormek T1?

First set the desired sharpening angle and pass the blade along the diamond wheel with light, even pressure. Sharpen both sides separately and then remove the burr with the composite honing wheel.
