Reasons to choose Amefa

At Amefa they know a thing or two about cutlery. After all, they've been setting tables all over the world since 1931! And with good reason: Amefa produces top-quality products. Amefa is one of Europe's most important suppliers of cutlery. The company itself is located in the Netherlands, but they also have offices in England, Germany, France, Poland and Hong Kong. The products are sold in over 70 countries worldwide!

Top-quality steel

Amefa considers the quality of their products to be extremely important. During the production process they only use the best materials, and a lot of time is spent on each detail. Amefa uses three different types of steel. They use 18/0 steel and 18/10 steel for most of the cutlery and 13/0 steel for the table knives. Want to know what your cutlery is made of? You can check it with a magnet! Cutlery that is made from 18/0 and 13/10 steel is magnetic, and 18/10 steel is not. That's because 18/10 steel contains 10% nickel. Amefa cutlery is stainless and most of their products are dishwasher-safe.

PVD Coating

The cutlery feels great in hand, thanks to a winning combination of high-quality materials and a great weight distribution. Moreover, Amefa's cutlery also has a beautiful finish. While sets have a stunning high-gloss finish, others feature a PVD coating. PVD stands for Physical Vapor Deposition and it means that a very thin layer (of titanium, for example) is applied to the steel, often with a nice colour like copper, black or gold. This coating not only looks great, it also protects against scratches and corrosion. Fun fact: PVD coating is an eco-friendly process. No harmful chemicals are released into the air or nature.

Amefa cutlery sets

Amefa offers a great variety of cutlery sets. For example, steak knife sets, children's cutlery sets, sorbet spoon sets or sets of pastry forks and tea spoons. There are also complete sets, so you can get everything you need in one go: everything from 24-piece sets to 60-piece sets. Available in many designs and colours!

History of Amefa

Over 85 years ago, a 25-year old German entrepreneur named Eugen Hollaender came to Apeldoorn. In 1931 he started his own company which produced and sold razor blades: the 'Apeldoornse Knife Factory'. In the 1940s, competition was fierce. That is why Eugen Hollaender decided to focus on other knives: table knives and other cutlery. At the end of the 1940s, the production of the razor blades completely stopped, and Amefa truly specialized in cutlery. Throughout the years the production in Apeldoorn was reduced turning the company into an international distribution centre. At the start of the 1990s, the production process in Apeldoorn stopped completely and moved to Asia. Their headquarters are still located in Apeldoorn.
