Japanese pocket knives
If there is any country where knife is sharpening is deeply rooted into its culture, it has to be Japan. Japanese folding knives are characterized by the use of high-grade steel. These can be sharpened to true extremes. In many of the knives, a beautiful damask steel is used. This gives the blade a little something extra.
Higo pocket knives are for enthusiasts who appreciate the tradition of this knife. Traditionally, these knives were used by everyone. From carpenters to school children: everyone carried a Higo knife. Striking is that these knives have no locking system. By means of the thumb rest (chikiri) and friction in the hinge, you keep the knife open during use. These days they are available in different designs, ranging from simple and effective to luxurious, multi-layered damask versions.
