Messermeister Custom: modern interpretation of classic German kitchen knives

After producing classic German kitchen knives for over 40 years, Messermeister felt it was time for a change. The result? The Custom collection. These knives are a modern interpretation of the classic German kitchen knife with the three steel rivets. In addition to the new interchangeable scales, a fresh aesthetic has been adopted too, including changes to the blade finish and steel grade. The knife is enhanced with a sleek stonewashed finish and made from German X50 steel.

How to you exchange the handle of a Messermeister Custom kitchen knife

Changing the scales is very easy. But what do you need? Of course, you'll need scales that fit your knife, and a Torx T9 screwdriver. The description of each Messermeister Custom kitchen knife lets you know which size scale you need.

Place the knife on a soft, flat surface and cover the cutting edge with a piece of tape. This reduces the risk of accidents and accidentally damaging the edge. Loosen the screws and put them in a small container to make sure you don't lose them. Remove the standard scales and screw the new scales onto the knife. Secure the screws, but not too tightly. If you secure the screws too tightly, you run the risk of splitting or otherwise damaging your scales. You won't need glue or epoxy. That's it! Just like that, you have your very own custom kitchen knife!
