Oak cutting boards
Looking for a cutting board that can take a knock? An oak cutting board is durable and lasts for years, with a beautiful coarse grain. The wood is hard and does not splinter easily, and you can keep it in good condition with cutting board oil. Here you’ll find oak cutting boards in different sizes, from compact for everyday use to large as a serving board.
Features of oak cutting boards
Oak is one of the harder types of wood and is therefore ideally suitable for a cutting board. The wood grain is fine and closed, which means the wood splinters less quickly than softer types. Even so, oak remains soft enough for your knives: the blade stays sharp for longer than on plastic or glass.
The dense structure also means that oak absorbs little moisture and odour. Wipe the board clean with a damp cloth after use and let it dry upright, this helps prevent warping. Treat the wood now and then with cutting board oil, and it will stay attractive and water-repellent.
